1. What is Velo-city?

Velo-city is the yearly flagship event of the European Cyclists' Federation and it is co-organised with a different city every year. It is a conference with an exhibition and the one place where advocates, cities, policy makers, researchers and industry leaders meet to shape the future of cycling and sustainable urban development. Velo-city 2024 will take place in Ghent, Beglium on 18-21 June. Read more.

The European Cyclists’ Federation conducts international bidding processes, encouraging cities committed to sustainable and active mobility to apply for future conferences. The Velo-city 2025 call for abstracts will open in September 2024.


All presentation proposals must be submitted through the annual call for abstracts. For more information read “How is the Velo-city programme assembled?”

Every fall, Velo-city hosts an international call for abstracts, inviting submissions from anyone working on cycling and active mobility. All submitted abstracts undergo a thorough review by an international team comprising over 80 international mobility experts. Each abstract is evaluated three times, and those with the highest scores are integrated into a programme of more than 80 sessions. Read more.

Press registration will open in February 2024. Accreditation is subject to the approval of the organisers.

Yes, food and drinks will be provided during the lunch and coffee breaks. Fingerfood and drinks are served during the Welcome Reception on Tuesday evening and the Networking Dinner Party on Thursday evening will also have food and drinks.

Yes, please indicate your allergies and dietary restrictions in the registration form.

No, the conference will take place at 't Kuipke and Floraliënhal, both of which are located in the Citadelpark and inside the same building. Read more.

The bike parade is approximately 10 km long. More details will be announced closer to the conference.

Groups of a minimum of 10 people can receive a 10% discount using the code 'GROUPVELOCITY24.' Please note that the discount is applicable for every 10 delegates and is activated when the group reaches 10, 20, 30 participants, and so on. Read more

Yes, registration onsite is available. We strongly encourage you to register in advance to save time and avoid additional costs. Prices for onsite registration will increase to 1200 EUR excluding VAT. Read more.

We understand that some individuals find Velo-city prices relatively high. However, it's important to note that Velo-city is a professional conference tailored for individuals working in the field of cycling and mobility. While we are currently unable to offer free tickets, we strive to make the event more accessible by providing discounted tickets to various groups, including ECF members, students, speakers, reviewers, those with rejected abstracts, and participants from developing countries. Please also note that discounted early bird prices are available until 14 April.

Conference registrations are non-refundable but may be transferred to a colleague if required. Read more.

No, Velo-city is an in-person event and the conference will not be recorded or streamed.
