Whether you're cycling through scenic EuroVelo routes, taking a train, driving, or flying into Rimini, there are many convenient ways to reach Velo-city 2026. Below you can find the best travel options to make your journey as smooth as possible.

By bike

The national cycle network Bicitalia guides you to Rimini from every corner of Italy. If you’re traveling from further afield, several long-distance EuroVelo routes will bring you most of the way. By train

National connections

Rimini enjoys a well-connected railway station, with numerous trains passing by daily towards major Italian cities. It takes less than 1h to reach Bologna, around 2h to Milan and 3h30 to Rome with high-speed trains. 

 

International connections

Rimini has a direct daily connection to and from Munich, in Germany. There are also longer train connections bridging Rimini with the rest of Europe through Bologna, Milan, or Rome. From Bologna, direct night trains go to Germany and Austria. From 30 May to 5 October, there is also a direct train from Zurich to Rimini.

 

Train stations in Rimini and tickets

Rimini Central Station is the city's main railway station, right in the city centre, just a short bike ride away from both the conference venue Palacongressi and the sea side. You can check the schedules and buy train tickets on TrenitaliaNightjet trains (ÖBB night trains) and Deutsche Bahn (DB).

The "Speciale Eventi" offer is available to Velo-citizens who will travel to Rimini on Frecciarossa, Frecciargento, Frecciabianca, Intercity, and Intercity Notte trains (for direct or connecting journeys) from 15 to the 21 June. The offer allows Velo-citizens to purchase a limited number of tickets with a discount ranging from 20% to 75% off the full base price. Find out more here.

The offer can be redeemed until midnight on the third day before train departure on the Trenitalia.com website, the Trenitalia app, ticket offices, and authorized travel agencies. For purchases on the Trenitalia.com website and app:

  1. Select the outward or return journey to Rimini

  2. Select "See other offers" and, from the drop-down menu in the "Offer" section, choose "Speciale Eventi"

  3. Enter the "IEG" code in the "Agreement Code" box

  4. Select "Confirm"

  5. Follow the same procedure for the return journey

To redeem the offer, you must show your downloadable credential at the time of purchase (exclusively at manned channels such as station ticket offices and Trenitalia partner travel agencies) and on board the train during ticket inspection.

By plane

To Rimini Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI)

Rimini's Federico Fellini International Airport offers direct flights to cities all over Europe. Check the list of direct connections on this website.

 

The airport is located 8 km from Rimini's city centre. Start Romagna city bus company connects Rimini city centre with the airport (line number 9). The bus stop is right outside the Departures area main door. All timetables and ticket options are available online on the bus company's website. Alternatively, the Metromare service operates between Rimini train station and the stop “Miramare Airport”, which is located at about 1 km walking distance from the airport. To Bologna Guglielmo Marconi International Airport (BLQ)

Bologna's airport has direct connections with important hubs in Europe, Asia (Istanbul, Dubai) and Africa (Casablanca, Fez, Tunis, Sharm el-Sheikh). Check the list of direct connections on this page

 

Going from Bologna's airport to the Bologna central station will only take you 7 minutes by monorail. The service runs every 7-15 minutes between 5h40 am and midnight. From Bologna central station, it takes about 1h20 to get to Rimini - with a smooth transfer on high-speed or regional trains. To reserve a combined monorail and train ticket, you can reserve it directly on Trenitalia website by searching for a route between 'Bologna Aeroporto' and 'Rimini'. If you prefer, you can take a shared shuttle directly to Rimini central station. This service is operated by Shuttle Italy Airport.

 

To Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and Milan Linate Airport (LIN) 

Milan's airports are among the biggest in Italy. Direct connections to main hubs in America (São Paulo, New York, Chigago, Montreal, Atlanta, Miami); Africa (Cairo, Addis Ababa, Dakar); and Asia (Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai, Bangkok, Singapore, New Delhi), and can be explored on Malpensa Airport's website and Linate Airport's website.


Reaching Rimini is then a matter of a couple hours, with several direct high-speed trains connecting the two cities.

With the discount code VELOCITY, valid from June 14 to June 21, it will be possible to receive a 10% discount on the online ticket price of VIP S.r.l. shuttle services from Bologna's “G. Marconi” Airport. All information and purchase options are available on the provider's website.

Velo-citizens wishing to take advantage of the discount can:

  1. Select the transfer by entering the route Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport – Rimini (or vice versa) and specify the destination area from the drop-down menu (e.g. Central Station)
  2. Select the date and time
  3. Enter the discount code: VELOCITY
  4. Complete the personal details and proceed to payment

By car

Rimini lies on the A14 Milano-Bari motorway, and is served by two exits: Rimini Nord and Rimini Sud. With the A14, from Rimini it is easy to reach the A4 to Venice and the A22 to the Brenner Pass. Florence, Rome and Naples are equally accessible with the A1 motorway.   

Several parking options are available in the city centre, with daily prices from 4-8€. Parking options can be found on this webpage, and can be paid via the EasyPark app, MooneyGo, Telepass, Tabnet, and A-tono or via the physical parking posts found across the city.

Getting around in Rimini

 

Once you are in Rimini's city centre, most hotels, restaurants and attractions are within 30 minutes of walking - or even less by bike! 

 

Rimini is connected by the Bicipolitana - eight colour-coded interconnected cycle paths that will help you easily navigate the city. Additionally, VisitRimini has listed some top cycling itineraries within the city and around Rimini for further exploration and sightseeing.
