Wout Baert has a Master in Public Management (2005, University of Antwerp) and a Master in Political and Social Sciences (1997, University of Antwerp). He has been working as an advisor to local, provincial and regional governments in Flanders in the field of spatial planning, sustainable urban mobility planning and strategic urban developments. Since 2014 he is program manager of Fietsberaad Vlaanderen (Flemish Knowledge Centre for Cycling Policies), which supports the dynamics in governments that want to invest in more everyday cycling and stimulates them with practical research and good practises. From this perspective, he is a much sought-after speaker on cycling policy in Flanders and how it can be improved. He is part of the steering group for the Flemish Vademecum Bicycle Facilities and member of the Advisory Committee of the Cycling Chair at the Ghent University.
