Sophie Vermeyen has worked for various civic associations in Belgium. After several years of volunteering, she joined the Avello team in 2024. She currently serves as a community organizer (supporting volunteer groups) and is in charge of training programs. Avello is the voice of cyclists in French-speaking Belgium. As a non-profit civic association composed of 99% volunteers, its members act collectively to make cycling safer, more enjoyable, and more accessible to everyone. Their missions include advocacy, training, information, and raising awareness. Beyond promoting cycling, Avello defends a more egalitarian society that is more respectful of its environment and its inhabitants—a society where collective interests are placed back at the heart of public priorities.
