Sofie Vanhooren is Team Coordinator at the Mobility Department of the Province of West-Flanders. The first 12 years of her career, Sofie was working in several international companies in a leading sales position. Subsequently, she leaded several European projects of the Co-Ordination Centre for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) in Ostend. Currently she is working on sustainable commuting. The team offers concrete support for companies who want to develop a sustainable commuting policy. Key words are personal approach, concrete tools, fact & figures and customized solutions. The first contact begins with tailor made analysis and GIS cartography of the mobility situation (so-called mobiscans), followed by the “test caravan”: a pioneer campaign that stimulates modal shift by testing sustainable means of transport. The Province is the primary contact for the “Commuting Fund” (Pendelfonds) of the Flemish Government. Sofie holds 2 Master Degrees of the University of Ghent: Translator/Interpretor German-Spanish and Communications.
