Sarah Taylor is an Assistant Principal Officer in the Sustainable Mobility Division in the Department of Transport, Ireland. Occupying this role since 2021, Sarah has responsibility for policy and funding relating to Active Travel projects and programmes, overseeing an annual budget of approximately €300 million. The majority of this investment is dedicated to the development, design and construction of active travel infrastructure, over 1000km of which has been constructed since the start of the decade. Funding is also made available for smaller behavioural change programmes such as cycle training and workplace travel programmes. Sarah’s previous roles included periods in the Climate Change Unit, promoting the uptake of electric vehicles, and developing Ireland’s National Sports Policy as part of the Sports Policy Division.
