I started my career in a very highways-focussed consultancy after finishing my master’s in Transport Sustainability at the University of Leeds, and quickly realised this was not where I wanted to be. Since then, I have worked in local government, and now national government, to make positive changes for active travel at the top level of English policy and guidance. Right now, I work for Active Travel England to improve the standards and quality for walking, wheeling and cycling to help achieve government targets of 50% of short journeys in urban areas being walked and cycled by 2030 – and am really enjoying working with, and helping empower our local authorities.
