Remco van Schadewijk is the research coordinator Data Science for Industry at the KdG Research Centre Sustainable Industry where he leads applied research at the intersection of data science, machine learning, AI and software development. Our research supports organisations in transforming complex data into reliable insights, practical tools and decision-support systems for real-world industrial and societal challenges. Within mobility, the research focuses on data-driven methods for analysing, enriching, and extrapolating e-bike CAN bus data, combining technical expertise with an understanding of operational needs and policy relevance. Remco’s work emphasises robust, responsible and usable machine learning and AI solutions, including the assessment of emerging technologies such as Agentic AI for business and public-sector processes. At Velo-City 2026, he contributes a pragmatic perspective on how data science can help cities, regions and mobility partners make better-informed decisions for sustainable cycling policy.
