Radu Mititean is president of the Romanian Cyclists' Federation (FBR) and executive director of the Bicycle Tourism Club Napoca (CCN). He is a dedicated NGO activist, involved in promoting everyday cycling and recreational cycling since 1992. A lawyer by profession with academic roots in law, medicine and tourism, he has spent three decades in bicycling and nature protection advocacy. His extensive portfolio includes regulations and plans related to cycling but also authoring bicycle tourism and hiking guidebooks and maps. He was project manager for dozens of programs and campaigns, worked with the media, stakeholders and decision-makers, but he spent most energy on drafting national legislation and amendment proposals to tens of laws and regulations, local and regional masterplans for cycling, plans for a National Cycle Route Network and regional ones, for standards for signposting cycling routes and norms for bicycle infrastructure, certification of guides and cycle-friendly accommodation.
