Patrick D'haese is the Flemish Bicycle Manager at the Department of Mobility and Public Works (Flemish Government). He coordinates the ambitious Flemish cycling policy. He lives in Ghent and holds a law degree and a European Master's degree in Leisure and Tourism Studies. Bicycle policy is the common thread in his career. Between 1998 and 2009 he was the general director and spokesperson of Fietsersbond vzw. Between 2009 and 2020, he worked as a consultant on bicycle policy at the cabinet of the Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works. He reached a helping hand to get many bicycle infrastructure projects done and was one of the founders of Fietsberaad Vlaanderen, the Flemish knowledge centre for cycling policy. Since 2020, D'haese has been a project manager at the mobility consultancy bureau Traject nv. There he mainly worked on bicycle projects for cities and municipalities. He became the Flemish Bicycle Manager in 2024.
