Mark first joined the European Cyclists’ Federation in July 2023 and works as EuroVelo & Projects Coordinator. He mainly works on topics related to the European Certification Standard (ECS), a methodology developed by ECF to assess the quality of cycle routes. In relation to this, he coordinates the process for new routes to join the EuroVelo network as well as training EuroVelo Route Inspectors on the use of the ECS methodology. Mark also works on EU co-funded projects, such as ICTr-CE, an Interreg Central Europe project aimed at developing an innovate cycling tourism project and implementing a mechanism for long-term governance and cooperation along EuroVelo 13 - Iron Curtain Trail. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Groningen and after work can be found roaming the countryside around Brussels on his road bike, at a football match or cooking new dishes from around the world.
