Jamil Sadegholvaad was born in Rimini on June 14, 1972, to an Iranian father and a mother from Rimini, whom his father met during a holiday on the Romagna Riviera and never left. He graduated in Political Science at the University of Bologna and, since his youth, has helped his parents run the family shop in Rimini’s historic centre, which is still in business today after more than forty years. His career in public administration began in 2009, when he was appointed as a provincial councillor for Rimini. He held this position until 2011, when he moved to the Municipality of Rimini, serving as councillor for two consecutive terms. In October 2021, he was elected Mayor of Rimini in the first round of voting. Alongside his role as mayor, he has been President of Visit Romagna since January 1, 2022, the public entity responsible for promoting tourism across the provinces of Rimini, Ferrara, Ravenna, and Forlì-Cesena. Since last November, he has also served as President of the Province of Rimini. He is the father of Jasmine, aged eight.
