Isabell Eberlein considers herself a political cyclist. For her cycling is more than a mode of transport but a vehicle to transform society for the better – ecologically and socially. As the CEO of Velokonzept she develops new formats of collaboration and brings together various stakeholders (industry, civil society, academics, politics and administration) to promote cycling. She holds a joint Master Degree in Environmental Policy and Planning from Free and Technical University of Berlin, a Bachelor in Political Science from University of Regensburg and study abroad experience in Amsterdam and New Delhi.
At Velokonzept she consults the cycling industry, many regional governments and the national transport ministry. She creates diverse networks, the BIKEBRAINPOOL – a think tank for the industry leaders and VeloLAB – a multi-stakeholder innovation platform for cycling.
One of her key interests is the promotion of women and cycling. She is a founding member of Women in Cycling on the European level and one of the main coordinators for women in cycling Germany, she co-initiated the purpleride on International Women’s day for more diversity in cycling and she organized the VELOWomen conference at VELOBerlin. Beyond the bicycle sphere she is a part of Women in Mobility and a keynote speaker.
