Gregor Steklačič joined the Ministry of Infrastructure of Slovenia in 2016 and has more than ten years of professional experience in the public sector, primarily in the fields of transport policy and sustainable mobility, complemented by previous experience in regional development and the non-governmental sector. He currently serves as Head of the Sustainable Mobility Division that is responsible for the implementation of national projects aimed at promoting changes in mobility behaviour patterns, as well as for establishing and managing funding frameworks (calls for proposals) for projects implemented by local communities and regions. He is an avid everyday and recreational cyclist. He has been appointed as the National Cycling Officer since 2019, with responsibility for the adoption and implementation of the national cycling strategy, as well as for providing expert guidance and consultancy to relevant stakeholders.
