Filipe Simões is an architect and urban planner graduated from the Federal Fluminense University (UFF), an everyday cyclist, and an advocate for the bicycle as a tool for transforming cities. Since 2015, he has served at the Niterói de Bicicleta program at the City of Niterói, leading public policies for active mobility and sustainable urban development. During this period, he has overseen the expansion of the city’s cycling network, the creation of emblematic projects such as Niterói’s public bike-sharing system, and numerous initiatives for urban regeneration and the promotion of a strong cycling culture. His work has helped position Niterói as a national reference in cycling governance and inclusive mobility.
