Doug is a co-host and producer of the popular podcast The War on Cars. He's also a writer, TV producer, safe streets advocate and passionate believer in cities for people. He has written for The Guardian, The New Republic, Salon, Curbed, Jalopnik, The New York Daily News and Streetsblog. He's frequently quoted in the press about New York's livable streets revolution and has appeared on NY1's Inside CityHall and NowThis News. As a TV producer with credits for PBS, ABC, Discovery, History, Travel and NatGeo, Doug knows how to tell a good story. Through his media and communications firm Brooklyn Spoke Media he has advised governments, nonprofits and mobility companies on communications strategies that make the case for safer, smarter streets. Doug is a tireless advocate for safe streets for cyclists and pedestrians. He helped establish New York's "LPI bill," which makes people on bikes safer at intersections and has been a major force behind the city's adoption of bike share and the growth of its protected bike lane network. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Leora and their two children. He does not own a car.
