UITP: Going beyond the urban vs. rural dilemma - how to plan, manage and fund combined mobility in diverse geographies
18 Jun 2026 12:00 - 13:00 Arco Panel discussion
Multimodality. Building Integrated Transport Systems
Is cycling only for a few privileged urbanities or a fully fledged mode that works in tandem with public transport to power sustainably the mobility of a whole region? We know that multimodal mobility systems not only offer a strong alternative to individual car use, but also offer a wide range of benefits to society, the economy and the environment. Mobilising citizens through public transport, walking, cycling and shared services means greater choice and develops sustainable habits. But how are cities and regions planning, managing and funding their cycling and public transport systems? How are they building their own pathway to a multimodal lifestyle? Organised by the multimodality specialist of UITP, this session will benefit from recognised international experts and practitioners that will enrich the panel discussion with their first-hand experience.
