Increasing active mobility makes it possible to reclaim public space currently occupied by private vehicles. This helps reimagining urban places while improving the quality of the streetscape and other urban areas. Cultural and historical heritage sites will also benefit, since they are all too often besieged by parked vehicles or are used to accommodate road transport needs. After an inspiring introductory presentation with beautiful redesign examples from around the globe, we will discuss with high-level elected officials from USA, Turkey, Italy and Canada how the humble bicycle contributes to creating uplifting spaces that prepare our cities for the future!
