Cycling for Life. Promoting Healthy Lifestyles
Data is an essential tool for designing better cycling infrastructure and shaping effective mobility policies. This session explores how cities and organisations are using evidence, monitoring, and digital tools to guide decision-making and evaluate impact. From Rimini’s three-year study assessing active mobility, accessibility, and sustainable tourism along its revitalised beachfront, to the impact evaluation of the F24 cycle highway between Leuven and Tienen, speakers will share how data supports smarter investments. The session will also highlight Milan’s Via Libera! initiative tackling public space misuse, and Rotterdam’s Space Accelerator, which uses data to plan future-proof streets, as well as the City of Zagreb’s experience in combining public and private datasets with open-source software to inform more responsive and effective cycling infrastructure development.
