How can we achieve a sustainable modal shift where walking, cycling and public transport don’t “cannibalise” each other, but grow together to reduce private car use? The UPPER (Unleashing the Potential of Public Transport in Europe) project, which implements a total of 84 measures in 10 cities, set out to answer this question. This goes hand in hand with the project’s focus on the concept of “Mobility of a Right” to achieve an attractive, efficient, reliable, safe, inclusive and affordable public transport system that works for all groups of society. In this session, UPPER city representatives will present their measures linking cycling and public transport, and discuss the lessons learned during their implementation.
