Advancing cycling in challenging political contexts
18 Jun 2026 14:30 - 15:30 Tempio Panel discussion
Good Vibes. Championing an Inclusive Transition
Traditionally, cycling has been on the agenda of a certain segment of the political spectrum, predominantly the more progressive parties. This translates to favourable political landscapes when said parties win elections, but failure to secure cross-party commitment, results in any progress being paused, dropped, or entirely reversed when a different political party is in power. This session builds on previous discussions in Ghent and Gdansk in which ECF Members – cycling advocates, discussed election campaigning (2024) as well as the challenges in the aftermath of election results (2025). In Rimini, we feature ECF members from Italy and Romania, along members of our Cities & Regions for Cyclists from Denmark and Belgium, to dive into challenges for local and regional administrations too.
