Whether you're cycling through scenic EuroVelo routes, taking a train, driving, or flying into Gdansk, there are many convenient ways to reach Velo-city 2025. Below you can find the best travel options to make your journey as smooth as possible.

By bike

Gdansk is intersected by three of EuroVelo's long-distance cycle routes, making it the perfect destination to arrive in true Velo-city style!

By train

National connections

Gdansk Głowny is an important railway hub with numerous trains passing through daily. It takes around 3h to reach Gdansk from Warsaw or Poznan - and 5h from Katowice, Krakow, Szczecin or Wrocław.

 

International connections

There are also direct trains connecting Gdansk with Berlin (5h30) and Prague (8h35). In Berlin, you can connect to an extensive railway network throughout Germany and beyond (Amsterdam, Brussels, Budapest, Copenhagen, Paris, Stockholm, Zurich).

 

Train stations in Gdansk and tickets

Gdansk Głowny is the city's main railway station, right in the city centre, where most hotels are located.

Gdansk Wrzeszcz is the second railway station. From here, you can easily reach the venue. It takes around 15 minutes by bicycle.

 

You can check the schedules and buy train tickets on Polish railways (PKP), Deutsche Bahn (DB) or Nightjet trains (ÖBB night trains).

By plane

To Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport (GDN)

The Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport offers connections to over 60 cities, with direct flights covering all corners of Europe. Check the list of direct connections on this webpage.

 

The airport is located 15 km from Gdansk's city centre. You can take a PKM (Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway) train to Gdansk Wrzeszcz railway station (25 minutes) and then the fast train to Gdansk Główny railway station in the city centre (10 minutes).  

 

Alternatively, bus number 210 operates regularly to and from the airport and Gdansk Główny railway station, taking around 40 minutes. Tickets are available in the ticket machine at the bus stops.  

 

 

To Warsaw Airports (WAW-Chopin or WMI-Modlin)

Warsaw's airports have direct connections with important hubs in Europe, North America (Chigago, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto), Asia (Beijing, Doha, Dubai, Mumbai, Tokyo, Seoul) and Africa (Cairo). Check the list of direct connections on this webpage.

 

From both airports, you can take a train to Gdansk Główny with a transfer at Warszawa Wschodnia (East) or Warszawa Centralna.

By car

Gdansk is easily accessible by car via the A1 motorway, which connects the city with Torun, Lodz, Warsaw and Katowice.  

 

Please note that the entire Old Town is a paid parking zone. You can pay through the machines on-site or via an app.  

By ferry

Gdansk is also reachable by ferry from Sweden. You can find information about ferries from Karlskrona to Gdynia here and from Nynashamn to Gdansk here. From the Gdansk ferry terminal, you can reach the city centre by public transport in about 45 minutes. The Gdynia ferry terminal is also only an hour-long journey away from Gdansk Główny railway station.

Getting around in Gdansk

 

Once you are in the Gdansk city centre, most hotels, restaurants and attractions are within 30 minutes of walking - or even less by bike!

The public transport system of trams and buses will also take you to any corner of the city. Tickets are available on the buses and trams or via the machines at some stops. Velo-city 2025 participants will get a bus and tram ticket loaded onto their card, valid for the conference days.
