Much like Ljubljana’s local ambitious stride towards becoming a city of green urban innovation, the themes of transformation and change were at the forefront of the opening plenary session.

Velo-city 2022 Ljubljana was all about Cycling the Change! By rethinking urban space, working with all stakeholders and focus on changing policies, we can achieve a lot in so many ways.
As part of the official programme, 330+ speakers inspired Velo-citizens aduring 80+ sessions on topics ranging from green economy initiatives to urban mobility innovations.

From parking facilities to newly-made infrastructure equipments, Velo-citizens were invited to discover the most inspiring innovations from all over the world to enhance cycling experiences.
The exhibition was at the centre of the conference, and gave a broad picture on most recent solutions ready to launch from 50+ companies.
During a wide range of technical visits on a cycle, attendees discovered the inspiring cycling infrastructure of the Slovenian capital.
The technical visits highlighted parking facilities to decongest the city centre, or spectacular transformations of former scrapyards into green and bike-friendly neighbourhoods.

The Smart Pedal Pitch contest came back for a third edition in Ljubljana. Eight start-ups and SMEs presented their most innovative, market-ready cycle tech solutions to the Velo-city audience and a jury of cycling specialists.
After a vote from the audience, Urbike's BicyLift, a uniquely designed bike trailer, became the 2023's contest laureate.
The social and side events are the perfect opportunity for Velo-citizens to meet their fellow Velo-citizens during the whole week.
The bike parade turned the city into a mobile flood of cyclists, pedalling through most recent urban developments and scenic views, whereas the networking dinner party at the Castle of Ljubljana was the perfect occasion to connect and dance with old and new friends. Uhlalala..

Ljubljana is a compact walking city built to the human scale. The Slovenian capital's ongoing commitment to sustainability and a number of high-profile international accolades make it a destination whose overall tourist development has been carefully planned and well thought-out.
