On Wednesday, Velo-citizens hit Leipzig's roads for an amazing bike parade. It led right through Leipzig’s city centre and the circular route started and finished at Augustusplatz. In addition to the cyclists attending the conference, all citizens of Leipzig were invited to bring along their families, friends, relatives, work colleagues and fellow students and join the Velo-citizens parade. Everyone enjoyed the 10 km bike ride and cheerfully enjoyed the 90'-00' show of the LVZ-Fahrradfest (Bicycle Festival) in the presence of Pikachu himself!
Velo-city 2023 Leipzig encouraged attendees to lead the transition. By redefining public space and working together, the many ways to do so were showcased in the programme's 80+ sessions. Over 430+ speakers inspired Velo-citizens, from working towards carbon-free cities to think about mobility's future.
Velo-city 2023 gave an overview of the most recent solutions provided to enhance cyclists' experience in cities. Located at the core of the conference centre, innovations from 100 exhibitors presented mindful and compound creations, from smart bike-sharing systems to secured parking facilities.

Velo-citizens discovered Leipzig’s cycling developments by taking part in one of the 12 technical visits led by experts in small groups on a bike. All tours were running every day in parallel to the conference programme.
The fourth edition of the Smart Pedal Pitch took place at Velo-city Leipzig, inviting the most innovative cycling solutions to shape the future of cycling in cities. After a fierce competition with both semi-finals and finals happening at Velo-city, Telraam won the first prize as Smart Pedal Pitch's laureate.

The networking dinner party gave Velo-citizens the occasion to connect with each other and meet new and old friends in a relaxed atmosphere. Moritzbastei was the perfect location, with an amazing live-band, plenty of delicious food and inspiring conversations!
Vibrant Leipzig stands for change like no other European city. Today, Leipzig is crisscrossed by a green belt, the opencast mines have turned to lakescapes and the city and region rely on sustainable mobility and state-of-the-art transport solutions to grow in an economically and demographically sustainable manner.
